The Year Celebrity Dating Got Weird

In DepthIn Depth

If there’s one thing we all learned during this O.D. year, it’s that love may not conquer all—but if you’ve got enough time and money, it will certainly find its way! In a year when normal people were stuck in the same space as their partners and considered the cost of a divorce at least twice a week (other married people, definitely not me) some celebrities managed to meet, fall in love, fall out of love, and make it to December with a smile and a partner, or at least someone to do the pap walk with.

As a result of limited options, or maybe just Cupid finally having time to get around to people, some truly unexpected couples formed and gave us something other than existential dread to talk about this year. In what timeline did anyone expect Tiffany Haddish and Common to become a couple? Certainly not this one! But thanks to an app and the Before Times, where famouses could meet new love interests at work, we are now living in the era of Commany. Tommon? Tiffon? Caddish? Do celebrities even do couple names anymore?

Let’s dig into some of the most unexpected couples that formed this year and hope that next year we all have better luck in love and covid restrictions.
